Belgium is small, but surprisingly diverse. Forget the traffic jams on the E40 or the endless search for a parking spot in the city. The best way to truly feel, smell, and experience our country? It’s on two wheels. At Scooter Verhuur Leuven, we deliver scooters throughout Belgium, so you can hop on anywhere.
Here are our favorite routes, carefully selected by province:
1. Flemish Brabant: The rolling Dyle Valley
Start at our home base! Leave the Leuven ring road and head south. The area around Huldenberg and Bertem offers challenging climbs and beautiful views of the fields.
Highlight: Stop for a picnic at Horst Castle.
2. West Flanders: Polders and the "Schreve"
Forget the crowded seaside promenade. Head inland toward the Westhoek. Drive through the vast polders from Diksmuide to Ypres and enjoy the serene tranquility and historic landmarks.
Highlight: A refreshing (non-alcoholic) stop at St. Sixtus Abbey in Westvleteren.
3. East Flanders: The winding roads of the Flemish Ardennes
Conquer the legendary cobblestone sections and hills like the Koppenberg (don’t worry, the scooter does all the hard work 🙃).
Highlight: The panoramic view from the top of the Kwaremont.
4. Antwerp: The Silent Kempen
Ride through the shady forests of the Kempen. The area around Postel and Retie is almost entirely flat, making for a wonderfully relaxing ride along canals and past abbeys.
Highlight: The Sas4 Tower in Dessel, offering a view of the confluence of three canals.
5. Limburg: Among the fruit blossoms
In the spring, Haspengouw is unbeatable. The winding roads among the fruit trees in Borgloon and Sint-Truiden seem tailor-made for scooters.
Highlight: 'Reading between the lines' (het doorkijkkerkje) in Borgloon.
6. Liège: The High Fens
For that true vacation feeling, head to the East Cantons. The roads around Malmedy and the Signal de Botrange offer expansive natural scenery that feels unlike anything else in Belgium.
Highlight: A ride around the Gileppe Reservoir.
7. Names: Along the Meuse
The Meuse Valley between Namur and Dinant is spectacular. You drive between steep cliffs on one side and the babbling river on the other.
Highlight: The citadel of Dinant, towering above the city.
8. Luxembourg: The Heart of the Ardennes
This is a paradise for any motorcycle or scooter enthusiast. The hairpin turns around La Roche-en-Ardenne and the banks of the Ourthe are simply breathtaking.
Highlight: The hidden roads around Durbuy, the smallest town in the world.
9. Hainaut: Industrial heritage and lakes
Head toward the L'Eau d'Heure Lakes. This vast water recreation area is surrounded by beautiful, winding roads that are perfect for a day trip.
Highlight: The impressive Strépy-Thieu ship lift.
10. Walloon Brabant: The Lion of Waterloo
Explore the rolling hills of the Brabant Ardennes and visit the historic battle sites around Waterloo.
Highlight: The ruins of Villers-la-Ville Abbey.
