Wine landscapes route
Imagine: the roar of a Vespa, the fresh air on your face, and a landscape that slowly passes by. A day focused on enjoyment, away from the hustle and bustle, surrounded by greenery, and passing places you may not have discovered before.
This route invites you to slow down, observe, taste, and be surprised by all that Flanders has to offer.
Along the route
Departing from our home base, we first drive past Horst Castle in Sint-Pieters-Rode. With its fairytale towers and medieval appearance, this is an enchanting start to the day. From there, we wind our way along country roads and through gently rolling hills, past vast fields and picturesque vineyards that give the landscape an almost Tuscan charm.
Along the way, you pass small villages where time seems to stand still, chapels hidden among the trees, and panoramas that invite you to pause for a photo. You have the freedom to leisurely explore the landscape, occasionally turning off to visit a local farm or a vineyard that opens its doors.
A must-do along the way is to stop at one of the local winemakers. Enjoy a glass of fresh white wine or sparkling wine, in moderation, as the Vespa is still waiting! Pair it with some regional cheese or charcuterie, and you’ll feel as if you’re in Tuscany, but right in the heart of Flanders.
The route continues winding through open landscapes, where you can gently feel the wind play, and ends back at the Castle of Horst. There, you can finish the day with a walk around the pond or a drink on a cozy nearby terrace.
